Kourtney, originally a native of Pensacola, Florida, earned her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2022. She graduated cum laude from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. During law school, she served as a Law Clerk for Judge Fredericka Wicker of Louisiana’s Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, as an Extern with the Louisiana House of Representatives Legislative Black Caucus, and as a Legislative Aide for Louisiana State Senator James Harris. Kourtney furthered her civil service by becoming a law clerk in the administration of Governor John Bel Edwards. Upon admission to the Louisiana State Bar, Kourtney continued her work with the administration by serving as an attorney and legislative liaison.
