Clay Countryman Becomes Chair of the American Bar Association Health Law Section

Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson is proud to announce that Clay Countryman, a partner in the firm’s Healthcare practice, has become Chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Health Law Section on August 7, 2021.

“I am deeply honored to serve as the Chair of the ABA Health Law Section. The changing landscape and interpretations of Federal and state healthcare laws, regulations and policies has a significant impact on the financing and delivery of healthcare services, I look forward to leading the work of the ABA Health Law Section’s leadership and more than 13,000 private sector and government lawyers and law student members of the Section in educating our members and the public on critical health law-related issues.”

In his role as Chair, Mr. Countryman’s initiatives will revolve around collaboration and innovation in the healthcare industry through working with other healthcare associations and ABA sections, as well as continuing key initiatives of the Health Law Section to strengthen diversity, equity and inclusion in the Section’s leadership positions and membership.

The ABA Health Law Section is the voice of the national health law bar within the ABA whose members represent clients in all segments of the health care and life sciences industry. Clay, who recently served as the Section’s Chair-Elect, has also previously served as the Section’s Vice Chair, Secretary, and in other leadership positions including chairing the Section’s Medical-Legal Partnerships task force and as a member of the ABA Veterans Legal Services Initiative.

Mr. Countryman’s practice focuses on corporate, regulatory and transactional matters for clients in the healthcare industry. He regularly advises clients on the formation of joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, healthcare transactions involving private equity investors, Stark Law and Anti-Kickback advice and defense, as well as general healthcare regulatory compliance advice to achieve business initiatives.
